The task

The project called for an adapter that would position LED lighting inside the existing taillight. The design had to work with the factory mounting points and retain compatibility with the original lens.

Starting point

A 3D scan of the original internal components provided the reference geometry. It describes the existing housing and features around which the adapter was designed.

Working with the geometry

The scan served as a reference for the CAD design. The supplied comparison image places the CAD geometry alongside the scan, connecting the adapter shape to the original component.

Using the existing geometry keeps the design focused on the available space and mounting arrangement rather than treating the adapter as an isolated shape.

The digital result

The project images show the adapter CAD model, the original scan and their digital comparison. The mounting arrangement and original lens informed the custom geometry.

What to agree for a similar project

For another taillight project, start with photos, the vehicle and lamp variant, dimensions and the intended lighting arrangement. We then agree on the geometry and the checks needed for that specific assembly.

The images document the CAD design. Prototype manufacture, physical fit checks and requirements for use on a vehicle must be agreed separately for a new project. This case presents custom design work; it is not a stock product offer.
